The thrift shop is a remarkable experience for everyone involved. What great people, and super merchandise. It always is rewarding to know you are also supporting the mission of the food pantry in making sure no one in need goes without! The Church is a wonderful example of the true meaning of Episcopalian outreach in action! At St. Bartholomew's they have been in action for the community since the foundation of the Church in 1887, times may change but mission never does. I highly recommend all Pinellas newcomers visit the always welcoming St. Bartholmews Episcopal Church on 34th St. South!

How long have you been in business?
Since 1887; we are the oldest community of faith in St. Petersburg Florida and the 2nd oldest in Pinellas County
What is your primary product or service?
Religious and community services; We do weddings, funerals, baptisms and we have a Thrift Shop and Emergency Food Pantry. We are also home to a preschool which benefits low income families, Precious Angels.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The Thrift Shop was first opened over 10 years ago as a little Episcopal Church Women fund raiser program called "Shirley's Closet". It was open Sundays after church. Since then it has grown to fill our Parish Hall and is open Tuesday-Saturday plus after church on Sunday. The Food Pantry was modeled after that of another local Episcopal church, St. Giles -- in Pinellas Park. It distributes every first and third Sunday and the food bags are prepared on alternate Sundays following our church service so that we all participate in this ministry; we started this within the last 10 years.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are a parish church in the Anglican Catholic tradition (Episcopalian) with a long history in St. Petersburg. We are on the historic registry and would be glad to share that heritage by showing visitors around -- a copy of our history is on our Website, stbarts.dioswfl.org, under the About Us tab where there is also a brief video describing our church ministries and services. Our Thrift Shop helps to support our Emergency Food Pantry.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We are seeking a grant to build low income transition housing on our property.

We are accessible by car and by bus. We are located at the corner of 34th St. South (US19) and 38th Ave. The entrance to our parking lot is on 38th Ave.

Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We are under the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida. Our Rector is Fr. William (Bill) Burkett; Our Parish Administrator is Liz Curry; We have a lay vestry who makes decisions regarding the management of our operations monthly.
What are your hours of operation?
Sunday Services are 8am and 10am from September - May and 9am from Jun-August; we have a Wednesday service at 12:00 noon. Our Office hours 9-12 Mon-Thurs and 9-4 on Fridays or by appointment. Our Thrift and Gift Shop is open 10-2 Tues-Thurs and Saturday and 10-5 on Friday. We have "wearable" sales every Friday (50% off - not including Jewelry). We have "end-of-month" clearance sales during the last several days of the month where EVERYTHING is 50% off). We have occasional special sales such as "Christmas in July" and "Welcome Back Snowbirds" and "bag sales" throughout the year. Our Emergency Food Pantry is open the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from 10-12:30 between September and May and 10:15 - 12:00 from June - August.

Well it has been said of our Thrift Shop that it is "magical"; there is a wide variety of high quality merchandise and kind and friendly service.
